What is the F38 quick release system?
In the simplest case, the F38 quick release system consists of two metal plates that are held together. One is the top plate (F38 Quick Release Plate), which attaches to the bottom of your camera. The other (F38 Quick Release Base) is attached to a tripod, monopod, ball head or slider and holds the first plate in position.

How is it used?

Mounted on a tripod head

This is the most common position where photographers use the F38 Quick Release System. The plate screws into the base of a camera in the normal way, and the base screws into the tripod head. Then slide the plate into the base using the quick release and turn the knob on the side to secure the camera.

This means that you only have to attach the camera once relatively slowly and can then attach and remove it from the tripod head much more quickly. You can leave the quick release plate on the camera all the time, whether you're shooting handheld or on a tripod, and simply remove it at the end of the day.

Attached to the shoulder strap

This is a great location as most photographers already use a camera bag to carry their gear. With the F38 Quick Release Shoulder Strap Clamp, which is attached to a shoulder strap, the camera can be stored in an intermediate position - neither in the bag nor in the hand. Instead, it sits directly on the chest and is ready for immediate use. Here too, the weight is nicely distributed on a strap that is intended for carrying.

Lanyard assembly

In this case, attach the F38 Quick Release Camera Strap Clamp to your camera lanyard. An interesting design aspect of the F38 is that the standard camera plate (unlike many Arca Swiss plates) is completely square and therefore symmetrical. It can be pushed into the plate in any direction, so you can easily point your camera up, down or sideways.
